Hello

The client-therapist relationship is pivotal in supporting change - have a read through my bio and see if we might be a good fit.

About me

I have worked with individuals, families and group clients across the lifespan, mostly from young people (10+ years) to older adults.  I've specialized expertise in working with people experiencing complex trauma, dissociation, self-esteem, poor sense of self, stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, parenting, grief and loss, life transitions and adjustments, school refusal and substance use. My career expertise has been working with people who are, or have been experiencing suicidal thoughts and self-harm.

I have worked within Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMHS) on the northside of Brisbane for several years. I worked alongside psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, nurses and speech pathologists. I have a good understanding of the local services and referral pathways for young people.

If people were to describe me using a few words, they might be; adventurous, pragmatic or an energiser bunny. These traits are evident in my therapeutic work. My therapeutic style is down to earth, casual and genuine.

I am registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). This means that I am required to meet yearly standards and targets for continuing professional development to ensure I am continuing to offer up to date evidence based interventions.

Why did I go into private practice? Although I have a fulltime job providing therapy in another space, this is my passion project. I thoroughly enjoy working with Pikelet and am in awe of the connections we create as a team. As many people have noticed the lengthy wait lists to access private practitioners, I also recognised I had to skills to contribute to people being able to access supports sooner.

On the weekends you'll find me travelling or outside; hiking, mountain biking, camping, in the water or spending time with my dogs, Schnitzel and Pikelet.
